At Polruan Holidays we have some of the most spectacular walks that Cornwall has to offer and many can be accessed just yards from the park, Polruan is an area full of ancient surprises, with it’s unspoiled charm narrow streets and narrower alleyways where flights of slate steps twist between the houses, with churches dedicated to obscure Celtic saints, deeply wooded valleys and surrounding remote villages, it is perhaps no  coincidence that Daphne de Maurier found Polruan an inspiration for many of her novels.

Polruan holidays is situated at the very top of Polruan village yet a mere 200 meters from the south west coast path, which takes you to the Great Lantic beach and Pencarrow head and further on to the picturesque harbour town of Polperro and the very popular fishing port of Looe, if you head west you will soon ascend upon Gribben Head, Polkerris and Par beach, venture further to Charlestown, (filming of Poldark).

The famous Hall Walk is a circular walk from Polruan and can be accessed a very short distance north of the park. If you want to venture further there’s no need to take your car, a local bus stops outside our main gate, (not available weekends or Bank holidays) and yes senior citizens you can use your free bus pass, there is also a taxi service in the village (Polruan Taxi) but you may need to pre-book.

If you take a walk through the camping field via the bottom gate Polruan village is a very short walk down from the park, down in the quay you will find two pubs 'The Russell Inn' and 'The Lugger Inn' service normally good and staff very friendly, both serving local ales and food at reasonable prices (both inn’s offer a takeaway service), you will also find a small supermarket, a gift shop named The Winkle Picker and a small highly recommended café called Crumpets tea shop, best cream tea in Cornwall. A Fish & Chip takeaway outside the park (Mondays)

From the quay a *passenger ferry takes you across to the well-known town of Fowey with plenty more shops, more pubs, and takeaways, a short, but very pleasurable trip. Whilst in Fowey why not take a walk to Readymoney Cove and then further onto Polkerris, here you will find the pub on the beach ‘The Rashleigh inn’ and the new restaurant 'Sam's on the Beach' a very welcome addition in 2009, and if you are still feeling energetic step on for par beach. From Fowey you can hire a boat and take a trip up this magnificent stretch of the estuary where you may see cormorants, egrets, mallards, swans, herons and kingfishers that make this part of the river their home, stop off at Golant and take a rest at the Fisherman’s Arms and then head-on to the stunning village of Lerryn where the village green lies beside the water’s edge, Kenneth Graham based Wind in the Willows and the tales of Ratty and Mole on the riverbanks here. From Fowey you can also take a boat trip to Mevagissey you may even see the dolphins or basking sharks along this picturesque stretch of the  Cornish coastline.

*Summer service passenger ferry operates until 11pm (2300 hrs) from the 1st May – 30th September.

Winter service until 7pm (1900 hrs)
